For 8 August 2022, Solemnity of Our Holy Father Dominic, based on Isaiah 52:7-10
How beautiful upon the mountains
are the feet of the messenger who announces peace,
who brings good news,
who announces salvation,
who says to Zion, ‘Your God reigns.’
Listen! Your sentinels lift up their voices,
together they sing for joy;
for in plain sight they see
the return of the Lord to Zion.
Break forth together into singing,
you ruins of Jerusalem;
for the Lord has comforted his people,
he has redeemed Jerusalem.
The Lord has bared his holy arm
before the eyes of all the nations;
and all the ends of the earth shall see
the salvation of our God.

Please thank fr Martin for his wonderful preaching this morning on St Dominic. In Australia we celebrated the feast on the 3rd August as St Mary MacKillop’s day is today…..our dear father and itinerant preacher’s day was moved to accommodate celebration today of our first saint.

Thank you, Martin.
I was struck by something quite simple in your preaching. Several times you remind us that we bring our voices together. Preaching is not a solo act, nor is Peace-building. No! we do this together, in harmony.
Listen! Your sentinels lift up their voices … Together they sing for joy. Harmony is no small detail. We preachers sing and write and preach together so that we not forget that our preaching is the bringing of many voices together. It is harmony and bridge-building that will eventually heal our broken world
So YES! Break forth together into singing you ruins of Jerusalem!
Break forth together into singing,
you ruins of Jerusalem.
It is time to sing of peace and harmony.
Amen

Thanks so much for this homily Fr Martin. How good it is to hear the importance of our mission as preachers…. studying, living and preaching the Word……relentlessly spreading the Gospel….
also to hear to hear about the perseverance of Dominic….he returned to the problem areas!
his big support was the support of the women communities.
May St. Dominic intercede for his Family!!!
Thanks.
HAPPY feast of Dominic.
