The Narrow Gate
Podcast: Play in new window | Download
For 25 June 2019, Tuesday of week 12 in Ordinary Time, based on Matthew 7:6, 12-14
Jesus said to his disciples, “Do not give what is holy to dogs; and do not throw your pearls before swine, or they will trample them under foot and turn and maul you.
“In everything do to others as you would have them do to you; for this is the law and the prophets.
“Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the road is easy that leads to destruction, and there are many who take it. For the gate is narrow and the road is hard that leads to life, and there are few who find it.

Thank you Mary Ellen for this reflection. The letting go is what stops the entry through thr narrow gate. But still trying. Looking forward to hearing you next month. Liz

Thank you, Mary Ellen for your preaching today. I am on retreat and our theme is Transformative Aging with Sr. Ann Billard, OLM. She is helping us to see and hear what needs to be if we are to be
Wise Elders. Your story of the wise elder sister touched me deeply with the image of raising her hands and then folding and bringing them down, realizing all she needs are the essentials to go deeper in her intimacy with the Lord, the love of her life and to enter the narrow gate. May we learn
that letting go for the sake of mission is one of the essentials.
Blessings on your continued preaching,
Sr. Brigid
PS I remember being with you and so blessed as we made the journey to the Lands of Dominic in 1999 under your leadership.
