For 18 September 2026, Memorial of Saint Juan Macias, Religious, based on Luke 8:1-3, sent in from Amityville, New York, USA.
Jesus went on through cities and villages, proclaiming and bringing the good news of the kingdom of God. The twelve were with him, as well as some women who had been cured of evil spirits and infirmities: Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out, and Joanna, the wife of Herod’s steward Chuza, and Susanna, and many others, who provided for them out of their resources.

I am happy to have the women acknowledged especially since the they were able to pay and take care of the disciples. We sometimes forget the female part in the gospel
but where would we be without the blessed mother’s part in the story.
You have wonderful insight Sister, and I am grateful that you share your gifts

Thank you for those interesting and thoughtful words. In November I have to teach a unit on women who were heralds of salvation to fifth graders. I could really do with your input in the classroom!
