Sow Bountifully, Without Sadness
Podcast: Play in new window | Download
For 10 August 2021, The Feast of Saint Laurence, Deacon, Martyr, based on 2 Corinthians 9:6-10
Brothers and sisters, the one who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the one who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, you may share abundantly in every good work. As it is written,
‘He scatters abroad, he gives to the poor;
his righteousness endures for ever.’
He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness.

Thanks for the reminder that when I am scared, my giving will be scarce. When I trust in God’s goodness and give freely, no matter how I feel, I give God the opportunity to supply and multiply my seeds of love. Thank you for keeping the transforming power of Hope alive.

The phrase that really struck my heart was how we can become “weary and wary.†I am truly living in those words especially the weary part. The joyful part has also been a challenge. Thanks for a clear look at how I can increase the bounty through continually sowing the seed. God bless you for your wisdom. Would love to sit at your feet and reap the benefits of God’s presence in you.
