For 13 June 2022, Monday of week 11 in Ordinary Time, based on Matthew 5:38-42
Jesus said to his disciples, ‘You have heard that it was said, “An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.†But I say to you, Do not resist an evildoer. But if anyone strikes you on the right cheek, turn the other also; and if anyone wants to sue you and take your coat, give your cloak as well; and if anyone forces you to go one mile, go also the second mile. Give to everyone who begs from you, and do not refuse anyone who wants to borrow from you.

Thank you, Dr. Debbie for your message on revenge. It is so needed today in our culture today with so much gun violence. I pray that I will take your words to heart even in little ways to be more Christ like and peaceful. God bless your preaching.
I pray too, for the end of the Death Penalty.
Gratefully,
Sr. Brigid, OP

Thanks, Sr. Brigid. I’m always a little surprised how easy it is for me to move away from peace, in spite of my desire to be more like Christ.

Deb, I really needed to hear your opinion on this. Good to have reinforcement from a wise Christlike woman. I am great at forgiving those who have wronged me, but struggle with forgiveness towards those who have hurt my loved ones-especially those who can’t defend themselves.

Great job and, as difficult as it is to hear, worth serious reflection as both the one who struggles to forgive and the one who seeks forgiveness for harm caused. Your message is especially relevant today as we watch the death and destruction in Ukraine.
