Transforming Sorrow to Joy
Podcast: Play in new window | Download
For 19 May 2023, Friday before Ascension Sunday, based on John 16:20-23
Jesus said to his disciples, “Very truly, I tell you, you will weep and mourn, but the world will rejoice; you will have pain, but your pain will turn into joy. When a woman is in labour, she has pain, because her hour has come. But when her child is born, she no longer remembers the anguish because of the joy of having brought a human being into the world. So you have pain now; but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you. On that day you will ask nothing of me. Very truly, I tell you, if you ask anything of the Father in my name, he will give it to you.”

Yes, Beth, how can we keep from singing when there is so much beauty surrounding us each day, this is not to discount pain or loss, and destruction in our nations suffering from war. Yet, it is a choice we make daily to trust in the ways of our loving God who tells us that He will be with us and in us till the end of time.
Thank you so much Beth for your profound preaching and always a joyful ending.!
Love and gratitude,
Brigid, OP

I do so appreciate your messages and commentaries. You always manage to capture the essence of any particular scriptural passage and make it blossom into an appropriate tool for today’s ups and downs. It is also very refreshing to experience your choice of vocabulary and calming delivery. Thank you so much!
