For 20 September 2023, Memorial of Saints Andrew Kim Taegon, Priest, and Paul Chong Hasang, and their Companions, Martyrs, based on Luke 7:31-35
Jesus said to the crowds, ‘To what then will I compare the people of this generation, and what are they like? They are like children sitting in the market-place and calling to one another,
“We played the flute for you, and you did not dance;
we wailed, and you did not weep.”
For John the Baptist has come eating no bread and drinking no wine, and you say, “He has a demon”; the Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, “Look, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax-collectors and sinners!” Nevertheless, wisdom is vindicated by all her children.’

So grateful Sr. Marianne for your challenging and insightful preaching of the Word today. As Christians and disciples of Jesus we are called to courage and hope in these times. As you said so well, Marianne, we are all Wisdom’s children. Do we use our eyes and ears to recognize and bring to light, truth, compassion, and justice in our broken world today. I hope and pray we do with the aid of the Holy Spirit’s gift of Wisdom.
Blessings on your continued preaching of the Good News,
Brigid Cannon, OP

Thanks, Marianne, for helping us unravel some of the ambiguity of this passage, and as always, clearly relating the message to life in our current world. Beth
