Some Things are Worth Fighting For
Podcast: Play in new window | Download
For 18 August 2019, Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time, based on Luke 12:49–53
Jesus said to his disciples:   “I came to bring fire to the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled! I have a baptism with which to be baptized, and what stress I am under until it is completed! Do you think that I have come to bring peace to the earth? No, I tell you, but rather division! From now on five in one household will be divided, three against two and two against three; they will be divided:
father against son
and son against father,
mother against daughter
and daughter against mother,
mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law
and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.â€

She brings up a true and distressing situation, but I don’t feel that she developes her theme sufficiently.

Thank you, Sr Magdalen for your challenge to us to face conflict and still remain a peacemaker.
No one person has the full truth so we need to stay in the dialogue till we let the truth set us free.
And even if there is no resolve, we can agree to disagree and continue to challenge the issues
today that need our attention, dialogue and prayer.
Blessings on you and your preaching,
Sr. Brigid, OP
