For 23 October 2020, Friday of week 29 in Ordinary Time, based on Luke 12:54-59
Jesus said to the crowds, ‘When you see a cloud rising in the west, you immediately say, “It is going to rainâ€; and so it happens. And when you see the south wind blowing, you say, “There will be scorching heatâ€; and it happens. You hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of earth and sky, but why do you not know how to interpret the present time?
‘And why do you not judge for yourselves what is right? Thus, when you go with your accuser before a magistrate, on the way make an effort to settle the case, or you may be dragged before the judge, and the judge hand you over to the officer, and the officer throw you in prison. I tell you, you will never get out until you have paid the very last penny.’

Dear Elyse, Your homily today was remarkable. We live in Wisconsin, are most concerned about the pandemic and also the election. I am praying every day for first responders who unselfishly literally are giving their lives for the suffering. I only wish the people talking about their freedom to go maskless would show enough compassion to care for the others enough to help. I won’t get into politics but I do see Joe Biden as one of the compassionate ones you speak about. It is a time of much prayer. Thank you, Fr Nick Punch OP, Thomas More Center
