Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. He fasted for forty days and forty nights, and afterwards he was famished. The tempter came and said to him, ‘If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread.’ But he answered, ‘It is written,
“One does not live by bread alone,
but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.” ’
Then the devil took him to the holy city and placed him on the pinnacle of the temple, saying to him, ‘If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down; for it is written,
“He will command his angels concerning you”,
and “On their hands they will bear you up,
so that you will not dash your foot against a stone.” ’
Jesus said to him, ‘Again it is written, “Do not put the Lord your God to the test.” ’
Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendour; and he said to him, ‘All these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Away with you, Satan! for it is written,
“Worship the Lord your God,
and serve only him.” ’
Then the devil left him, and suddenly angels came and waited on him.

SO GRATEFUL TO YOU, RUTH, FOR YOUR UNFOLDING OF THE GOSPEL WISDOM TO OUR TECHNOLOGICAL WORLD WHERE THE SAME TEMPTATIONS THAT JESUS EXPERIENCED ARE SEEN TODAY FOR EACH OF US LIVING IN OUR SOCIETY.
WITH THE GRACE OF JESUS WE CAN LEARN TO SAY “NO” AS WELL.
BLESSING ON YOUR CONTINUED PREACHING,
SR. BRIGID

One no longer has to leave home on a Sunday afternoon for a little “passegiatta” just to be seen by thousands. You can post selfies on social media all day long from anywhere! Once again you “nailed it”, Ruth Anne. Thank you for this Lenten preaching to help us say NO to so much show business today.
Dominican hug,
Jerry

Thank you, again, for your thoughts and reflections on a passage from Scripture. I look forward to hearing your “breaking open the Word” and your resulting, spot-on commentary.
Peace and blessings,
Ross

Thanks, Ruth — What a blessing to “hear your voice” again after several years . Thanks for your sharing. It sounds like you are inviting us into the “Stuff” of daily life … and that STUFF in my experience, usually opens new and wonderful doors and insights. As we all know, “daily ‘stuff” can be a wonderful discovery.. . a blessing that comes from heaven. . It often flows into us from God’s WORD and It can be both dangerous and beautiful at that the same time.
So nice to know that you are still around being creative, RUTH I will keep my eyes open.
I hope our paths pass again. wondeful at the same tome., too … or at least a new encounter with God, and that is often fairly . uncomfortable at least. Are we OK with risk? Does the Good Lord purposely lead us into these uncomfortable MOMENTS FROM TIME-TO-TOME? or at least unexpected crossroads so that we can glimpse the “other side of life?” THE GOOD LORD does seem to lure us into the those places at certain crossroads of our lives. I suspect that those moments are part of God’s JOYFUL hugs — unexpected moments of grace to shake us up purposely. Whether it’s just life or God’s surprises, I certainly think it’s worth to pay attention to.
and to hear and see what sometimes we’d prefer to to see today. not have seen something different day. see Gospel the gospel everywhere and make it accessible for all of us. I am glad to hear your reminder that the gospel is a bit dangerous every once in awhile.
RUTH Anne Henderson, O.P. It is a blessing to listen to your lovely our heart
