The Golden Rule
Podcast: Play in new window | Download
For 23 June 2026, Tuesday of week 12 in Ordinary Time, based on Matthew 7:6, 12-14, sent in from Mt. Vernon, New York, USA.
Jesus said to his disciples, “Do not give what is holy to dogs, or throw your pearls before swine, lest they trample them underfoot, and turn and tear you to pieces.
“Do to others whatever you would have them do to you. This is the law and the prophets.
“Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the road broad that leads to destruction, and those who enter through it are many. How narrow the gate and constricted the road that leads to life. And those who find it are few.

Thank you Connie for your preaching. Who would ever anticipate that the universal Golden Rule could be countercultural? Yes we each need to do what we can in our troubled world.

Thank you, Connie, I love that this golden rule comes from the breath of God blown into us from our very beginning! Our challenge is to continue to breathe out this love, mercy and humility!

Once again, Connie, you provide us with a familiar passage to guide our reflection. However, reminding us that the power of being faithful to this oh,so, simple exhortation comes from the Breath of God. Thanks!

“Do unto others”…… the second most common edict from Christ, next to loving God with all your heart, soul and mind!
When God created Adam, he taught him love God. From the moment Eve opened her eyes to our present day the “Golden Rule” has always been a part of our praise to God. The one does not exist without the other. Thank you for the gentle reminder Connie!
