For 1 May 2025, St Joseph the Worker, based on Matthew 13:54-58
He came to his hometown, and he began to teach the people in the synagogue. They were astonished and wondered, “Where did this man get such wisdom and these mighty deeds? Is this not the carpenter’s son? Is not his mother called Mary? Are not James and Joseph and Simon and Judas his brethren? And are not all his sisters here with us? Where then did this man get all this?” And so they took offense at him.
But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is always treated with honor except in his hometown and in his own house.” And he did not work many mighty deeds there because of their lack of faith.
